Course Development...What Should You Expect?

By now, you may be wondering, "OK. I understand that I need to have objectives, know the audience, know what the content is, and even have an understanding of the technologies involved. But how do I put all of this together?" Good question. This module will provide you with some tips on tying the course together.

It's a good idea to have already read through the information in covered in the "Course Design" module, before starting with this one.

The module is divided into the following sections:

  • Modularize Your Course : This section discussed the advantages to organizing your course content into modules and using "chunking" techniques.

  • Using Distance Education Technologies: This section reviews a variety of technologies that can be used in a distance education including videotape, videoconferencing, web, WebCT, streaming video, online discussions. There are several video clips of distance education instructors discussing the benefits of each technology, along with information on how to make choices that are compatible with your teaching style.

  • Copyright Issues in Distance Education: This section provides information on copyright issues related to distance education course, which typically apply to traditional courses as well.
